How Gel X works
Gel X uses pre-shaped, pre-sized clear gel tips that cover the entire natural nail. A gel adhesive bonds the tip to the nail plate, then the assembly is cured under a UV/LED lamp. After curing, technicians blend the fit for a seamless edge before applying color and finish, creating a secure extension that wears like gel polish.
The system pairs the strength and polish-like finish of gel with a softer, more flexible extension than acrylics. Gel X tips come in multiple shapes and lengths so a technician can match your natural nail shape and lifestyle, providing comfortable, lightweight extensions that move with the nail instead of feeling rigid.
What happens during appointment
Your Gel X Full Set begins with a professional nail prep: natural nails are cleaned, lightly buffed and shaped. A correctly sized Gel X tip is selected and adhered with gel adhesive, then cured under a UV/LED lamp. Technicians finish with 2–3 coats of gel polish, a glossy topcoat, cuticle oil and a hand lotion massage to complete the service.
This service is scheduled as a 60-minute appointment and is popular during prom, graduation and holiday months (May, June and December). Gloss Nail Lounge’s South Gilbert location is convenient for commuters using Loop 202; evening and weekend slots are available for busy families and professionals in Chandler, Mesa and surrounding areas.
Care, removal and longevity
When cared for, a Gel X Full Set typically lasts 2–4 weeks. These extensions cannot be refilled; re-application of a new full set is required. Avoid aggressive picking or prying at the tips and schedule re-application within your desired wear window to maintain shape and finish without risking the natural nail.
Professional removal is recommended to prevent damage. Removal starts by filing off the surface gel with an e-file, then soaking the tips in acetone for about 10–15 minutes until the adhesive dissolves. The technician then gently lifts residues with a cuticle pusher—forceful scraping by an untrained person can harm the nail plate and surrounding skin.
