How Gel X is applied
Gel X starts with a standard nail prep: natural nails are cleaned, shaped and lightly buffed so tips sit flush. A pre-shaped, pre-sized clear Gel X tip is bonded to the full nail with a gel adhesive and cured under a UV/LED lamp. The goal is a seamless junction that feels secure and looks natural before color is added.
After tips are secured we apply 2–3 coats of gel polish, curing each layer under the lamp, then finish with a topcoat. Technicians size and shape each tip to match your nail bed and chosen silhouette, which affects overall comfort and how easily nails fit into everyday tasks in suburban Gilbert routines.
Wear, care and removal
With proper care Gel X typically lasts 2-4 weeks. Gloss Nail Lounge recommends rebooking or rescheduling appointments within 2-4 weeks to maintain look and strength. Gel X full sets cannot be refilled — when lift or growth occurs, a full re-application is required rather than a traditional refill.
Professional removal is strongly recommended. Technicians first remove surface polish with an e-file, then soak the extensions in acetone for about 10–15 minutes. When the gel softens, it is gently eased off with a cuticle pusher. Removing Gel X at home or forcing them off increases the risk of nail-bed damage.
Comfort, damage and durability
Gel X extensions are softer, lighter and more flexible than traditional acrylics, which many clients find more comfortable for daily wear. Because the tip is gel-based and bonded to the whole nail, the system distributes stress differently than acrylic, and when removed by a professional it does not cause nail damage according to our procedures and client experiences.
Durability depends on shape, length and daily activities.
